Let it be known that God is at work! One of the students below, Su, just received her acceptance letter today!

Mostly prayers today ... One of the girls just came into my office. I could tell she just wanted to talk. She cried. She doesn't usually cry, but the combination of not hearing back from any of the graduate schools she's heard from plus it being her birthday and her feeling extremely lonely plus not being able to find a job is making her feel terrible about herself. I did the best I could to encourage her and pray for her and mostly listened. She seemed better after she left, but would you be lifting her up in prayer? You can call her Su. She isn't a believer. We're planning to have lunch together tomorrow. Another student came into my office right before that and also wanted to talk. She too is suffering with a lot of emotional baggage and is trying to do the best she can to let go of it before she graduates. Please pray for her too! You can call her Lu. She's a believer. True Leadership Retreat in California (May 24-29) Please pray that those few that have talked with me about it or that I've talked to about it (including Su) will go. And pray for the retreat itself. If I go to China, I won't be able to attend myself. India conference and possibly a China visit. May God give me direction; may I act accordingly. I want so badly to visit my visiting scholars and former GFU students and former students from teaching in China. It's endless the amount of people I could visit. But I also love my students here, and it's hard to go away for a month and leave ministry here. Praises ... We have a new visiting scholar, Ly, and her daughter here. She arrived safely, is already attending a Bible study, and told me the first time she learned about prayer was when I told her in an email that I had prayed God would help me find housing for her and He had. (I had tried calling everywhere to find housing for her, and finally a friend of a friend located the place Ly is currently living. God couldn't have found a better place! It is the downstairs basement of a wonderful old home in Newberg that has been recently remodeled. The couple have two daughters, both near the visiting scholar's age and My, the scholar's daughter, already loves playing and going to school with them.) Ly, had to call me at work because she didn't know how to work the microwave, however. She said they don't drink cold milk and she couldn't figure it out, so I ran over to help her since she lives near the University. Ly, also, asked how to use the school drinking fountain. Her English is excellent, better than mine almost, but I guess we're constantly learning in a new country! It reminds me so much of my time in China, all the little things I didn't understand. |
