"I don't believe God to be mercy to me."
"Christians give glory to God but I don't see God at work in anything."
"God doesn't care about people, maybe if a lot of people are dying or something but it's like looking at ants, they are just there."
"If God made us from himself it would be different, but from dust?"
"Everyone is different but not very different. No one is that great. If I die maybe my mom and grandparents will be sad for a little while but then they'll forget me."
"I don't think we on earth are it."
"What's the purpose? I'm still trying to figure that out."
"All religion says to be nice and help people."
After a the semester was finished, we stopped meeting together because she moved to Portland. We stayed in touch and have become close friends. I would like to say God's helped her answer all her statements and questions, but sometimes it's a much more gradual process, and I would say this is the case for this student. She's still on a journey, but I feel privileged to have the chance to interact with her on some of these ideas and statements and many more. Because we have a close and honest relationship, we can discuss things on a much deeper level. And, recently, this has set the stage for her to continue her journey. She visited me a few months ago, and attended a fellowship gathering held by some Chinese believers in their home. She asked some good questions of one of the leaders. And the discussion this former student and I had that night following her visit to that fellowship resulted in further learning and growth for the both of us.
