I was exhausted tonight, just wanted to go home and go to bed. I'd been working since 7am this morning on various ministry projects and tasks, met with one of my prayer partners, and then cooked dinner for and participated in a cultural discussion at the International Girls House. "Can you come up to our room and talk?" A sweet girl who lived in the house asked me, her glasses poking out slightly from her round face. I said yes without thinking, and watched her roommate smile as well. "I hope this is one of those good talks and they don't have something bad they want to share with me ..." I thought to myself. The two girls voluntarily helped me wash dishes before we went up to their room. I was impressed as they had come into the house late from a shopping trip and subsequently had not participated in the discussion. When I got to their upstairs room girl no. 1 asked me where I wanted to sit. I chose the edge of her bed and she pointed out to me her bright pink sheet, saying that it illuminates the whole room with pink when light shines on it in the morning. She sat with her legs over her chair, leaning her head on the back of it. Her roommate, slightly taller and more slenderly built, took a seat behind her and pulled out her ipad as we talked. Despite being so exhausted, conversation flowed naturally. The girl who asked me to join them in their room for the chat, reminded me so much of one of the students I taught while in China. She was eager, sweet, and inquisitive. She had one question after another. We covered ...
